Olibanum essential oil is extracted by the steam distillation of a resin which is produced from trees of the Boswellia family genus. In the Western world oil from Boswellia trees as well as the dried resin itself is usually called Frankincense and Frankincense oil. However in the Eastern world it has the more common name of Olibanum.The word Frankincense is derived from Old French franc encens where franc means noble or high quality and encens means incense. There are several species of Olibanum trees and consequently there are several types of Olibanum essential oil traded on the international markets but the most common is the North African Boswellia carterii. This is an oleoresin which is collected by making incisions into the bark of the tree with a hatchet and sap then flows from the wound as a white sticky milky substance which solidifies into small golden drops or opal ‘tears’. The first sap is not collected because it is thought to cleanse the wood of impurities. Once this dries the hole is enlarged and deepened after which more sap comes out dries and is collected about two weeks later. This tapping process is repeated several times and in different areas of the tree throughout the year depending upon the region. After the stone-like lumps are gathered they are put out to dry. The highest quality Frankincense is silvery and clear or with a slight green tinge. Non-pain related uses include ulcerative colitis dyspepsia asthma allergic rhinitis sore throat syphilis pimples and cancer.Frankincense oil may help reduce or prevent the appearance of sunspots. This can improve skin tone while also reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The oil may also help generate new skin cells. Studies show it may help enhance heart health liver health or soothe pain and inflammation. It may help certain symptoms that occur with inflammatory diseases.

First of all they should write on the product heading this is better known as Frankincense essential oil. Not many people are familiar with the Latin name thus could lose potential customers.This is really an excellent quality oil the scent is very genuine & authentic.It’s quite sweet very rich & musky. The Carterri is the sweetest & warmest I think & this is as it should be.I’m quite impressed with this brand & would like to purchase more from them but they’re delivery charges are £19! Which is not cost effective.Frankincense can be used in aromatherapy skin care preparations to tone mature skin and to smooth wrinkles. It is often used as an inhalant for conditions of the upper respiratory tract. But it is most valuable as an oil for emotional wellbeing and balance. It opens the heart chakra and helps to overcome grief and loss. It is very effective in times of stress for those who ‘burn the candle at both ends’. It is deeply relaxing yet lifts the spirit beyond the worries of the here and now. It is energizing and seems to lighten the load when one feels overwhelmed with pressure.Frankincense opens the heart chakra and attunes the mind to the highest spiritual vibrations – it exudes sacredness. It is used for consecration and as an offering to the Gods. An excellent oil for meditation and contemplation of spiritual love and wisdom. Frankincense banishes negative energies and demons. It can be used for purification and protection especially in ceremonial or ritual settings.. It aids study particularly of spiritual or philosophical matters and is useful for all kinds of healing rituals.You have to bear in mind essential oils are not regulated & anyone can claim they’re 100% authentic which can or cannot be true. Some belong to the Aromatherapy Association which gives them more credibility.I use a lot of essential oils & have used a few Frankincense oils of different varieties. The Carterri is supposed to be the most expensive & best quality. I’m surprised they don’t mention the country if origin as that’s important with essential oils (the best quality is from Somalia & Oman).PS. I don’t understand why people are saying there’s no instructions! Essential oils don’t need instructions. People who buy them know what they’re for plus you can always ask Google. They never come with instructions. I have used a lot of essential oils over the years & am quite confident & impressed with this brand. They seem to specialise in essential oils & oils. Albeit their £19 delivery charges on Amazon I’d have bought more from them. That’s not cost effective & puts me off buying from them.Essential oils can be used in aromatherapy diffusers added to base oils (jojoba almond coconut oil etc) for body/massage oil or mixed with water in a spray bottle & sprayed around the room (I add a bit of Polysorbate 2p to allow the oil to mix with water). They can be mixed with natural base creams as a healing face cream (usually rose or frankincense is used for face). You can also add them to non-perfumed (preferably natural) washing up liquid for a pleasant scent when doing the dishes or natural cleaning solution sprays (or even make your own) & your home will smell beautiful. Please note essential oils should never be heated as it destroys their therapeutic properties. Never use neat or direct on skin always dilute in carrier oil for topical or skincare.They have a multitude of uses & are therapeutic. Please Google for more info.

I would have liked this to have come with an information leaflet as to how to use it and what it is useful for. I think it is good for skin complaints as I have a Frankincense cream that works really well so I wanted to try the oil and Olibanum is an alternative name for Frankincense something else that should be made clear in the listing.The oil comes sealed with a rubber stopper that needs to be removed so that you can use the glass dropper. I gather that you aren’t supposed to use it directly on your skin but it’s not easy to remove this rubber stopper without getting it on your fingers at least. I actually wanted if for my fingers as I have developed an allergy to UV nail gel so since it was there anyway I rubbed it into my index fingertips and thumb round my cuticles which is where I have the worst problem. I found that this oil is quite volatile it evaporated really quickly which might be one reason why you need a carrier oil so it does really need to be mixed with something as it might not stay long enough on your skin neat to have any effect anyway. I tested some Benzoin oil from this brand last week and I have to say that that is brilliant on my cuticles mixed with Argan oil as the carrier so I added a few drops of this oil to my special cuticle concoction and put it on all my cuticles. I like the smell of the Olibanum it smells a bit like woody tea tree oil but it is quite delicate and not cloying. I also like the smell of Benzoin oil but I found that I couldn’t use it over night as it gave me the most horrendous reflux when I was laid down. Strangely adding a few drops of Olibanum into the mixture seems to have neutralised the smell of the Benzoin so I may try it again over-night but I don’t want another bad night like that so I may just stick with this mixture for daytime and make another one just with Olibanum for night time.So I’m happy with this but I’m not certain I’m using it correctly I’m not sure if it’s OK to mix it with other essential oils as well as the carrier oil but so far it seems to be working for me.

This oil feels like a quality one. It comes in a nice box. Inside you’ll find the bottle and a dropper. The oil has a protection ring on the cap so you know it wasn’t used and inside there is another cap to prevent the oil from vaporating.Olibanum oil is also known as Frankincense oil (that’s how I know it). It is a therapeutical oil which is good for skin issues and has a nice woody scent. It can also be used in an oil diffuser. If you’re more of a fruit scent person you may find it a bit harsh although this particular oil is more delicate than other ones I tried.If you want to use it on skin you need to mix it with carrier oil. It can be any other standard oil (seed oil etc.). And here’s the problem – there are no instructions. You have the dosage given on the item page but nothing coming with the oil. I think it should be attached or put on the box or the bottle itself. The box doesn’t even have the name of the oil just the brand name.This is a quality oil and the only issue I found was about the lack of dosage and instructions how to use it. Price wise it could always be cheaper but good essential oils come in small bottles like this one and are a bit pricy. They do last for a while though…Thank you for reading my review. First of all you need to know before buying essential oil that these are concentrates.Each has a fairly strong scent on its own and leaves a stain because they are usually oily in base.Most of it itself cannot be used with alone just with carrier oil.An essential oil is authentic and certainly of quality if it has a good strong and intense aroma.If you want to use this it’s a good idea before to read a little on which herb is for what. Because improper use can also cause problems.For example Olibanum also known as incense is very good for treating inflammation.Also for the treatment of infections in the mouth.It has a pleasant smell so it can also be used as a sedative.Greenwood products are a guarantee to me.I will make a soothing bath and body lotion from this Olibanum oil soap for family and friends.If you have a quality product at an affordable price I would definitely recommend it.I really like it and the other products of the brand as well.I made pictures if you like check it out!I hope this description helps you make your decision now!
